SCOTT COACHBUILDERS QUIRKE STREET MINEHEAD

They had there own forestry plantation somewhere on the near hills and also there own sawmill and made virtually everthing themselves,as well as doing the most wonderful coachwork painting. They also had a blacksmiths for the Horses. Below are some of the different wheeled vehicles that had been made to order, many of these show the purchasers local names on the sides, and a lot can be learnt from the backgrounds, mostly around Quirke street, one actually shows the adjacent property to Scotts works being built as well as Quirke Street still not cut through to Bampton Street. The building is now used by Richard Beaver and the shop by an Upholster. I think these wagons are works of art.
The following information is shown on the 1911 census:

Sydney John Scott aged 28 occupation: carpenter and wheelwright (employer) born in Winsford Somerset.
wife: Mary Ann Scott aged 28 also born in Winsford. They had been married 2 years and had no children.
Charles Edward Laucey aged 23 unmarried, was a boarder. He worked for Mr Scott and was also a carpenter and wheelwright. He was born in North Molton. Interestingly, there address was New Street, off Friday street, Minehead.

Many thanks to Mr Dave Lloyd for lending me the pictures shown below:
