The street party was organised by the combined churches, 2000 scones were made.  The local removal firm, A2B fetched all the tables and chairs from churches and the road was closed at 8 am, and by 9 am there was a team of gallant people putting out tables and hundreds of chairs, but at about 10.30 am the heavens opened and they got it all in again and got soaked in the process!   There were then announcements put in the gardens, and a loudspeaker at 2.15 at the start saying the event was now in the church and the church hall.   They completely ran out of scones; probably more than 1000 people went through. It was held in the garden of the Methodist Church, in the hall and corridors. It was  absolutely heaving.   There were 60 Foxes students helping to serve, and just SO MANY volunteers, it was the most amazing day of which Minehead can be really proud! There was lots of time to chat and laugh over the teas and in between acts.  The organisers who pulled it all together are fantastic, Lewis Lintern of the Regal and friends humped all the sound equipment across, Butlins lent chairs - it was truly wonderful.
